prints perfection with KENZO X H&M

KENZO X H&M

The KENZO X H&M collection is coming tomorrow! I’m proud to be one of the few that’s able to show you some hot looks already before it hits the store. Take a glimpse of the first looks – shot in Jamestown, Accra.

KENZO: BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL

I noticed people commenting on social media about this collab, finding the clothing too much, too bold, almost circus-like. But the thing is, especially in Holland, people are often afraid to think out of the box and get out of their comfort zone. Besides, I think it also has a lot to do with styling.

I’m pretty sure that a lot of the clothing in this collection can be accesible for many if you style it you own way. For example: combine the flower printed KENZO X H&M trousers with a basic top, instead of the matching one. Nevertheless, a lot of you know that I don’t mind it to be a little too much or too bold sometimes!

SHOOTING LOCATION: JAMESTOWN

Obviously these colorful pieces had to be captured at a special location. Since I’m in Ghana, photographer Amfo Connolly suggested to visit Jamestown: one of the oldest districts in Accra. The city nowadays remains a fishing community inhabited primarily by the Ga. The district shows the remnants of Accra’s colonial past. But besides that I see a raw beauty in this town. It’s not just the colors that attract me, there’s something beautiful about the rawness of it.

HOT & SWEATY

Since Jamestown knows a very tight community, Amfo asked someone he knows from Jamestown to be our personal guide. Besides his guidance, I was also blessed with the company of two friends: Vanessa and Paloma. Who mostly took care of me; wiping my sweaty face (gosh, it was HOT), making sure I stay hydrated, buy me fruits and so on. I’m happy they were there to be a helping hand and keep me company at the same time <3

Btw!¬†There’s a vlog about the shoot backstage as well, which you can¬†watch here.
