“Where do you get your inspiration from?”, is something people often ask me. My answer to that: different cultures and mixing them. Dutch label Afriek shares a similar vision by bringing together Dutch design, African printed fabrics and craftsmanship. We teamed up and created magic together.
AFRIEK: A STORY THAT SUITS
In a world where the stories behind the clothes you wear are often left out, Afriek wants to make people aware of what they wear and where it came from. Since to them it seems that this is a lost value in the Western fashion culture. I couldn’t agree more. Afriek started with creating custom made men blazers and suits, but now provides clothing for women as well. Because of course, the ladies also love it.
Afriek makes the clothing in Kigali – the capital city of Rwanda – the home of an uncountable number of tailors. As a result they want to change perspective by delivering this personal hand tailored quality from Africa directly to your wardrobe.
WEARING AFRIEK IN AFRIQUE
What better location is there to shoot the clothing by Afriek in Afrique itself! The colorful surroundings here in Ghana match the colorful story of the clothing so well. What’s your favorite look?
I LOVE THIS! WHERE CAN I PURCHASE IT?
Afriek’s collection is available at a few stores in Holland or via their webshop. Nevertheless they have two pop-up shops coming up as well in Amsterdam! Swing by if you’re around.
