Two weeks ago I came across Christie van der Haak her art and I was eager to observe her work in real life. There’s a thin line between art and fashion and it’s always a good idea when those two meet.

What a feeling
“Wow, this is seriously breathtaking!”, went through my mind at first, when my eye catched Christie’s work at her expo in Gemeentemuseum Den Haag. It was so overwhelming, yet simply amazing. And in my opinion, that’s exactly what art should do: it’s needs to move you at some point. I wasn’t the only one touched by Christie’s prints. Some people even told her they felt different physically when entering the room (in a good way!).

About Christie
When Christie was 18 years old, she began her studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague (The Netherlands). She studied design and fashion, but started painting – mostly colorful and decorative patterns – by the time she graduated. Later on she also found an interest to transpose her paintings into fabrics.

Best backdrop
Obviously I just had to create new visuals with Christie’s work. I packed up three different outfits, changed several times in the ladies room and became one with the oh so very artistic surroundings.
